Firstly apologies for the dearth of blog posts – little Thomas is now not so little, and as a bustling toddler takes up rather a lot of time, which is how it should be. Additionally I have recommenced my PhD research….which fills up a few spare minutes! But, I haven't forgotten this blog, or family history. Since the Geoctieies.com website was taken down, and the new site established, whilst the genealogical content is comprehensive and ever updating thanks to the sterling work of Philip Richards, my partner on the site, many of the biographical information previously available on the old site has been lost. So, I will start to build that again – initially through this blog and then as a composite web page on the site.
Josiah Wedgwood and Charles Darwin have of course already been featured prominently – there are many others and I will start with an unusual angle: Actors! So, coming soon, Cary Elwes, Geoffrey Edward Spencer Lovatt and thespian siblings Skandar and Soumaya Keynes
The format will be simple; I will set out their connection to the Wedgwood clan – linking to Philip's database - and then provide links to Dictionary of National Biography, Who's Who, and Wikipedia.
Back in 1996, having just finished my University finals I set up the "Wedgwood Family Worldwide" Genealogy Pages. Hosted free by Geocities until last year they grew steadily, and ever more contacts were made with kith and kin around the globe.
I am not able to spend nearly as much time as I would like developing the pages further.
In 2009 Geocities free sites have been ended - a new site http://www.familyhistorian.info has been set up and material is slowly being migrated. This new 'Wedgwood Portal' links to Genealogical Database options, notable biographies and this blog. These links are replicated below.
I set up this blog to enable me to regularly, and easily post news, genealogical tidbits and updates to the site whilst still retaining access to the old pedigree charts and links to Philip Richards' database, which is the most up-to-date anywhere.
Please enjoy the site, do get in touch and consider joining the Wedgwood-L mailing List to keep in touch with the global family. Finally, apologies in advance if I am tardy in my responses, I am part way through a part-time Ph.D, and I work full time. I will get to you eventually, but don't be shy in re-sending, with a sharp word!
